The Unknown Florida

I have come full circle. In the late 1990s I was a Ph.D. student in Physics and Climate Research at the University of Hamburg, Germany. At that time the later German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, was Minister of the Environment and was interested in anthropogenic climate change. In 1998 she visited the German Climate Computing Centre, The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and the Geosciences Department at the University to learn more about climate research and modeling. She talked to researchers and directors and then gave a presentation what the German government planned to do to lower carbon dioxide emissions. She also talked to us graduate students, telling us that we are doing the right thing by studying global warming and that we are the future of the field. So one head of (my) state, I am a German citizen, telling me I am doing the right thing. 27 years later, in 2025, I am also a US citizen and another head of (my) state tells the United Nations and me that climate researchers are all liars and crooks, and climate change is a gigantic hoax. So I have come full circle from good guy to villain…
